The WIC Program Highlights are fast becoming my favorite posts to write on the Women in Consulting (WIC) blog – just like the companion “Thank You” highlights I have the privilege of doing at the beginning of each general meeting are my favorite meeting “task.”

Why? Because everyone who delivers these programs gives freely of their time to help make WIC a success, which certainly makes my job a heck of a lot easier as well. 🙂 Since WIC is a nonprofit, with a very small operating budget, the only payment I can offer them for their hard work is my heartfelt thanks and public recognition for a job well done.

This month I’m happy to highlight the efforts of our Facebook team, who worked diligently to launch a custom welcome page on Facebook.

The Scoop

I love the synergy of functionality and beauty in great design. It appeals to both the practical and artistic sides of my personality. And WIC’s new Facebook welcome page is the epitome of this synergy. It encapsulates the essence of WIC, and presents an elegant, professional face in the online world that works just as it should.

It, along with the regular work the team does managing the page, will definitely draw more people into our community, which will only make it better for everyone. And I know the team has other plans in the works, so I look forward to seeing what the rest of 2010, as well as 2011, brings.

The following are the people to thank the next time you see or talk to them:

  • Rachel Melia, WIC online marketing director and a digital marketing consultant, oversees the online marketing team and all they do, was the key architect behind the new Facebook welcome page, and was instrumental in growing WIC’s Facebook presence over the past year
  • Gabriela Martinez, WIC brand chair, designer extraordinaire, and president of Texto Incorporated, designed the look and feel of the new welcome page
  • Lou Anne McKeefery, WIC social media technical coordinator and founder of Be-Found, programmed the new page and went above and beyond the call of duty in tackling the technical side of things
  • Leilani Yau, WIC Facebook coordinator and an interactive marketing specialist, manages WIC’s ongoing Facebook presence
  • Melody Appleton, WIC marketing and PR director and president of Avicenna Marketing, helped developed the copy for the page and the video script

More Things to Come

The Facebook team isn’t the only group working hard to make WIC the best it can be. Other teams are equally hard at work – like the Web, membership, and pro bono teams, who I wrote about previously. And next month, I’ll feature yet another team who is churning out amazing stuff. Who? Not sure yet, as the list of people to thank is long – maybe it’ll be the partnership team or the mentoring team or…. Check out WIC’s amazing team of volunteers.
