:: I’ve never been much of a joiner. Though highly collaborative in my business practices, personally I am somewhat of a lone wolf. Last year my good friend and WIC stalwart, Jennifer Berkley Jackson, inspired me to join WIC and then recruited me to be the Director of Programs, General Meetings. In 2017 I take over as President.

Stepping into the role of President puts me in a long line of women whose commitment to the community built WIC into a well-respected professional association.

The term is for two years. In 2017 and 2018, the Board will focus on increasing the momentum and value of WIC for our members and the larger community. As a volunteer-run organization, we rely on the commitment and drive of our members. Every volunteer I’ve spoken with has talked about how giving back results in the accrual of rewards to them – the rewards of meeting and working with incredible women. Not one of these women has been motivated by the spotlight and thus our board and other volunteers might seem invisible at times — leading many of us to take for granted all the benefits of WIC without understanding what it takes to make an organization like this successful.

With that in mind, I’d like to encourage members to consider volunteering – it’s a great way to enhance and deepen relationships with other members and even learn new skills. We currently have a strong need for volunteers in Membership, Education & Mentorship, and our General Meetings teams. More details can be found here:

The Women of WIC continue to inspire me. It is awesome to spend time with role models — people who are conquering the challenges of consulting and building their own place in the world of business.

I hope you will share the value of WIC with your colleagues and friends. Retaining our current members and growing our numbers is critical to the ongoing success of our association. Please Share the Wealth of WIC.

I look forward to working with all of you in the years ahead.

Happy Volunteer Month! I’m so glad that I volunteered with WIC from the day I joined…it’s been a great way to get to know other consultants via working with them on WIC projects, which often has led to working together on CLIENT projects, too! WIC is a very welcoming and collaborative place to volunteer…and there’s room for anyone who is interested in getting involved!
